A curious feature of New Zealand’s vegetation is the abundance of shrubs with tiny leaves and a tangle of interlacing branches. This habit has been called divaricating and is found in many unrelated plant families where it may be restricted to juvenile forms (indicated by 'juv' below) or perpetuated into the adult plant.
