Pyrrhobryum mnioides has unbranched stems with narrow tapering leaves. The leaf margin has teeth and when examined closely it can be seen that for each tooth there is a second tooth slightly behind and adjacent to it. The leaves curl strongly as they dry.
Widespread in New Zealand, usually on soil.
