Pulchrinodus inflatus forms attractive yellow-green mats of unbranched or sparingly branched stems up to 35 cm tall. Upper portions of stems bear large, 6-10 mm long papery-textured, oval to oblong leaves that are concave and strongly undulate especially when dry. Conspicuous enlarged shoot tips containing male antherida are formed but capsules have never been found.
Found in scattered localities throughout New Zealand.
