Didymodon australasiae forms mats of unbranching stems that are 1-10 mm tall with narrow, lanceolate leaves 1-2.5 mm in length. The nerve fails before a blunt leaf tip or may extend slightly beyond the tip.
Widespread in New Zealand on rock and mortar walls and sandy soil in open sites.
