Ditrichum punctulatum is a small tufted plant with long yellowish-brown to pale green and narrow leaves. The sheathing leaf bases overlap with one another and each abruptly narrows to become slender and grass-like. Leaves become strongly twisted when dry. The capsule is ovate-oblong and narrows at the mouth.
Widespread in New Zealand on soil banks.
