Chiloscyphus semiteres var semiteres may be recognized by its undivided leaves with broadly rounded tips and the absence of marginal teeth. The dorsal leaf surface bears echinae (conical projections) which are few to absent on the ventral surface. Underleaves have an oblique insertion, are convex and deeply divided into 2.
Found throughout New Zealand, from forest to dry, exposed locations.
