Notogrammitis heterophylla

Family: Polypodiaceae

Notogrammitis heterophylla has an erect to short-creeping stem (rhizome) bearing divided, slightly leathery fronds.
An endemic species found throughout New Zealand as an epiphyte, on rock or on the ground.
Formerly known as Ctenopteris heterophylla.
 

Vegetative characteristics

Fertile frond and sporangia

Plant form: erect stem bearing fronds up to 30 cm

Frond appearance: similar to sterile frond

Frond stalk, midrib: stipe slightly winged

Sporangium location: lower frond surface

Frond shape: narrowly elliptic

Sporangium position: in one row either side of midrib

Frond blade: pinnate to almost 2-pinnate (divided 1-2x into leaflets or pinnae)

Sporangia distribution: in groups (sori)

Frond surface: slightly leathery to leathery, sparsley hairy

Sorus shape: round to elongate

Leaflets: linear, margins smooth or lobed

Sorus covering: 0
